Why watchtravel

Price intelligence, not a booking funnel

No ads, ever

No paid placements and no markup — nothing here is “sponsored.” Rankings answer to you, not to advertisers.

365-day price history

Every flight and hotel is scored against a full year of its own fares, refreshed about every 15 minutes.

Un-buyable fairScore

A 0–100 quality rating from location, room, service and reviews — a hotel can’t pay to raise it.

Instant fare alerts

Name a target price and we ping you the moment it drops — below your number or below its median.

Today's BUY signals

Live · scored against a 365-day history. BUY = below median · WATCH = normal band · WAIT = historically pricey.

Trending destinations

Popular routes right now

Live fares vs each route’s 365-day median — the cheap flights the market just marked down.

How the signal works

History → Score → One honest call

Step 1

Build the history

We keep 365 days of fares for every route and map its price distribution — the 20th, 50th (median) and 75th percentiles.

Step 2

Score today's fare

The live price lands on that curve. Below the median is cheap for this route; above the 75th percentile is expensive.

Step 3

One honest call

You get BUY, WAIT or WATCH, the booking window, and a free target-price alert. No “prices are typical,” no sponsored nudge.

watchtravel Fare Index

The market, in one number.

Once a month we publish how fares are trending across major US routes — plus the cheapest weeks to fly to Europe and the real cost curve for the holidays. Honest, data-first, and built to be cited.

The promise

No ads. No featured listings. We answer to you — it's all about price and quality.

We don't sell placement, and we never will. Rankings come from two things only: the live price, and a fact-based fairScore that can't be bought.

Travel, priced like a live market

Most travel sites hand you a wall of options and a shrug. watchtravel does one thing instead: it tells you whether today's price is actually good. Every flight and every hotel is treated like an instrument with a moving price — and we score today's fare against its own 365-day history, then give you a single, honest call: BUY, WAIT, or WATCH. No results ranked by who paid, no vague “prices are typical.” Just the number and what to do about it. Buy the dip for your next trip.

What BUY, WAIT and WATCH actually mean

The signal is the whole product, so it's worth thirty seconds. For each route or hotel we keep a full year of prices and map the distribution — the low, the median (50th percentile), and the high (75th and up). When today's fare lands below its own median, that's a genuinely good price for this route right now: BUY. When it sits in the normal middle band with no clear edge, it's WATCH — we keep an eye on it for you. When it's above the 75th percentile, it's historically expensive: WAIT, and don't let urgency talk you into overpaying. Because the score is always relative to that specific route's history, a $600 fare can be a clear BUY on one route and a WAIT on another. Context beats a flat “cheap” label every time.

How it works, in three steps

  1. Search any route or stay. Pick a flight route (say JFK→LHR) or a hotel. We pull the live price and 365 days of history from 40+ airlines and booking sites.
  2. See the signal, not a guess. The live fare lands on the curve, and you get BUY/WAIT/WATCH plus the full price chart — so you can see why, not just take our word for it.
  3. Set an alert, then book cheap. Not ready to commit? Name your target price and we ping you the moment it drops — below your number or below its median. When it turns to BUY, we send you straight to the cheapest source to book.

Why “no ads” changes the answer you get

This is the part other tools can't copy without breaking their own business model. watchtravel takes no ads and no paid placements — ever. Nothing is “featured,” nothing is “sponsored,” and we never mark up a fare. Hotels are ranked by an un-buyable fairScore — a 0–100 quality rating built from location, facilities, room size, build quality, service and reviews — so “deal of the day” always means genuine value, not the listing that paid the most. When your incentives aren't tangled up in commissions and ad slots, you can afford to tell someone to wait. We can, so we do. Any referral we earn from the source you pick never changes your ranking or your signal.

What you'll see on the board

The home board is a live snapshot: today's active BUY signals, the day's biggest price drops, trending destinations, and a Fare Index that moves like a ticker. Each card shows the symbol (JFK→LHR), the live price, and how far it sits below its median, so the good prices are obvious at a glance. It's a market you can read in five seconds.

Who it's for

watchtravel is for anyone who hates the “did I just overpay?” feeling — the deal-hunter, the flexible traveler, the person who'd rather buy a real dip than gamble on a hunch. The core is free: the signal, the charts, and the daily deals. Set your first fare alert in seconds — no account wall — and let the market come to you.
